We have now re-named our group HOLYWELL HISTORICAL SOCIETY. This was due to an assumption being made by other history groups in the county that as a reminiscing group we must be an organisation set up to help and support those with dementia or Alzheimer’s. Whilst of course we know the value of reminiscing sessions for dementia sufferers, and in fact have visited care homes in the past to carry out such sessions, we feel that this is only a small part of what we can offer to the community.

As a historical society we hope that we will be instantly recognised as a group involved in all things pertaining to the history of Holywell and the surrounding villages. Holywell Reminiscing Group will now come under the banner of Holywell Historical Society, along with a Family History Hub to deal with all things genealogy/family history related.

This group is not to be confused with Holywell & District Society, a local historical group that ran from 2007 to December 2023. Once this group ceased to be, we felt we were more than qualified to fill the gap they left and continue to preserve the past of Holywell for future generations.
